What are probiotics?

Probiotics are live and active cultures containing potentially beneficial bacteria that many believe have the potential to aid in good digestive and immune system health. In fact, the word probiotic actually means “for life”". Some studies have shown that probiotics may make other nutrients more readily bioavailable

How does probiotic yogurt aid in healthy digestion?

The live and active probiotic cultures in Jala Bars are key in helping your body attain and maintain good digestive health. Bacteria is essential to your body, specifically your digestive system. There are both good and bad bacteria in your digestive tract. Some medications, like antibiotics, can interfere with the “good”" bacteria. But probiotic cultures help swing the balance back

Doesn’t all yogurt have probiotics?

No, this is a common misconception. All yogurt contains cultures, but only a select few products like Jala Bars feature live and active probiotic cultures. Additionally, many products are manufactured in conditions that render the beneficial cultures all but useless. But Jala Bars are specially made to ensure that our blend of probiotic cultures remain active.

Are there any other benefits to probiotics?

Sure! Probiotics have been shown to have a positive effect on everything from treating a crying newborn’s colic to fighting off yeast infections to general immune health. They are also important in helping the body properly digest fats and proteins. Some studies have even suggested that they can play a role in the prevention of colon cancer. Please keep in mind that some of these studies are still underway and that probiotics are not a treatment or cure of any disorders or diseases.

Do probiotics remain active when frozen?

While not all probiotic cultures remain active when frozen or exposed to extreme temperatures, the carefully-selected probiotic cultures in Jala Bars will remain active and will still provide the potential health benefits.

What other things can I do to keep my digestive system working well?

In addition to eating healthy probiotics like those in Jala Bars, eating a high-fiber diet and getting plenty of water and exercise will keep the good bacteria in your digestive system defending your body from the bad bacteria.

What are antioxidants?

Antioxidants are molecules capable of slowing the prevention of other, sometimes dangerous molecules, including free radicals. They are found abundantly in many common foods such as blueberries and pomegranates. Vitamins C and E, beta carotene and selenium are some of the most widely know antioxidants.

Are Jala Bars really all natural?

Yes, unlike many similar products, Jala Bars are made of 100% all-natural ingredients. No artificial sweeteners, flavors or anything else.

Which active cultures are used in Jala Bars?

There are four active priobiotic cultures in Jala bars – Lactobacillus acidophilus La-144, Bifidobacterium Lactis BI-04, Lactobacillus delbrueckii and Streptococcus salivarius. They are found in many fermented milk products, like kefir, and are widely used in probiotic foods and supplements.
